1. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide when creating an account (name, email address) and information generated through your use of the service — documents you upload, conversations your agents handle, visitor identifiers (such as email addresses or user IDs passed through the chat widget or API), and usage metrics. We do not sell your data to third parties.
2. How We Use Your Information
Your data is used to provide the Marseil service — training your AI agents on your documents, processing chat conversations, generating summaries and sentiment analysis, and sending transactional emails. We may use anonymized, aggregated usage data to improve the platform. Referral parameters (UTM tags) on links from the chat widget are used solely to measure widget engagement.
3. Data Storage & Security
Documents and embeddings are stored in isolated namespaces per organization. All data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest. Conversation data, including both user questions and AI-generated responses, is stored to provide chat history, analytics, and export features.
4. Document & Conversation Data
Documents you upload and conversations your agents handle are stored and processed to power your AI agent. Conversation data may be retained for analytics, export, and summary features. You can delete individual conversations, clear entire chat histories, and delete documents and projects at any time from your dashboard. Conversation exports (CSV) are generated on demand and streamed directly to your browser — no export files are stored on our servers.
5. Shared Conversations
Project owners may enable or disable public sharing of conversations. When sharing is enabled, a signed, time-limited token (30-day expiry) is generated to allow viewing of a specific conversation. Shared conversations are read-only and do not expose other conversations or account data. Project owners can disable sharing at any time, which immediately revokes access to all previously shared links for that project.
6. Visitor Data in Chat Widgets
When visitors interact with your deployed chat widget, you may optionally pass visitor identifiers (such as email addresses or user IDs) through the embed configuration. This data is stored on the conversation record and visible to the project owner in the chat history and exports. Visitors are informed of data collection through a privacy notice displayed in the chat widget.
7. Third-Party Services
Marseil uses third-party AI providers (including OpenAI, Google Gemini, and Alibaba Qwen) to generate embeddings and AI responses, Stripe for payment processing, and Google for OAuth authentication. Each provider operates under their own privacy policies. AI-generated responses are saved as part of your conversation history to enable chat continuity, analytics, summaries, and exports.
8. Your Rights
You may request export or deletion of your data at any time by contacting support@marseil.ai. You can also export your conversation data in CSV format directly from the dashboard. We will respond to data requests within 30 days. If you are located in the EEA, you have additional rights under GDPR.
